aboutus
We bring home-educated children and young people together to learn, sparking their curiosity and inspiring what we hope will become a lifelong love of subjects which develop critical thinking and enrich their lives.
We offer the fun and stimulation of learning in a small group with a creative curriculum adapted to the abilities and interests of the children taking part.
Our classes are for children who are home-educated whose parents want them to enjoy the social side of learning with people who are experts in their subject areas. We welcome children who are recovering from illness but not ready to return to full- time education in school. We also welcome children who are out of school long-term due to EBSA but able to access learning in a small group environment.
Our teachers are all qualified (QTS) with many years’ experience in mainstream and independent schools. Our founders are also professionals who have experience in their various specialisms beyond the classroom from working in the foreign press to selling their art internationally.
The seeds for Curious Thinkers were sown many years ago when one of our founders was asked for help by a friend who had chosen to home-educate her children. As no-one in the family spoke a second language, they had been trying to learn French with a combination of a certain well-known language app and Google translate and were finding the experience deeply unsatisfying. Within a couple of months the children were chatting away to each other in French and the group had grown from one family to three.
We are now offering classes in French, Spanish, Creative Writing, Music, Art and project-based Critical Thinking at our Wolvercote and Summertown centres.
