what we offer languages

“The limits of our language are the limits of our world.” (Wittgenstein)

Language is the key to understanding other people and cultures. The ability to read texts and stories in their original languages gives us a clearer perspective on both author and text. It also teaches us to think critically about how information is being presented to. Being able to speak other languages also makes travelling much more fun and enriching. In the same way that children learn their first language, listening and speaking will come first. We explore words, play games and enjoy stories, gradually learning to read with confidence. We’ll also give children the skills and resources to develop their language skills independently and with you away from the classroom.

what we offer critical thinking

“I cannot teach anybody anything; I can only make them think” Socrates

Our Critical Thinking classes use an enquiry-based approach to engage students and ignite their curiosity about current and historical issues which affect all our lives. In each topic, central questions will guide us to investigate, understand, deduce and draw sound and defensible conclusions. We also learn to analyse, evaluate and interpret information, thinking about how it has been presented and why and how that does and should shape our response. Our group work will focus on developing communication, negotiation and collaboration skills.

Themes for 2025-26 will include: The Titanic, Competition, Fast Fashion, Julius Caesar, Space

what we offer art

‘Art is creation, it’s in the rustling trees, it’s in the air we breathe, it’s in the songs we sing - it’s in everything. Art has a voice, it speaks, it comforts and confronts, it challenges and questions, it is curious and demands all and nothing. Art is our music, our books, our history and the history of others too.’

At Curious Thinkers, our Art classes use a thematic approach to provide the opportunity for students to create what inspires them.

Themes 2025-6: History through Art, Poetry through Art, Matchbox Art, Festivals through Art

what we offer creative writing

“A word after word after word is power.” Margaret Atwood

We choose to use the words we want to be heard. These words are important. With a pen in hand, we are in command; we can create feelings of happiness or sadness, loss or joy, love or hate. Our words can placate or spark debate. In our Creative Writing classes, we will look at what makes writing great then we will create. We will put pen to paper to entertain, to educate, to debate, to celebrate. Our writing will shower people with emotion. Our writing will empower us.

what we offer music

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” Plato

One of the best gifts we can give children is a love of music. If we can also give them the desire and discipline to develop their innate musical abilities we give them a source of joy in everyday life and the means always to find a place where they belong, whether that be a choir, band, orchestra or any place where people gather to make music together. We build a secure foundation in rhythm and pitch first and and learn to appreciate what makes great music. We also do lots and lots of singing.
